Development resumes

Hi

If you only follow me on itch.io, you may have been surprised to see no updates from me. Maybe you thought the project was cancelled. To that, I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that for the past 4 months or so I haven't been able to work on the game due to schoolwork. I had very important exams and a lot of pressure from my parents, which caused my mental state to spiral down very quickly.

The good news is that I had my last exam yesterday and I won't have school until the start of October. That means that I can finally focus my full attention on Absolution's development. I'm planning to finish writing in that time and then go through the game implementing missing assets such as art and music. I would like the game to be out before its next anniversary on the 24th, but unless I can work at 100% efficiency I doubt I'll be able to do it. Either way, I think it's safe to say that the game will come out later this year. I only need a few more scenes to finish William's route and I've made progress on Tom's route as well in December and early January. I recently planned out the second half of Charlie's route and today I'm implementing its structure into the code and trying to familiarize myself with the file structure of the project again.

Either way, I hope I can get back to my usual pace (or even a higher one) soon and that I will be able to write more devlog posts like this in the near future.

Unfortunately I only feel like I can update the itch.io devlog if something major is happening. I have a tumblr blog at @navypinkdev where I post frequent updates on what I'm up to.
