Partial release outline


Feedback needed

So I've mentioned before that I'm leaning towards a partial release of the game, but never went into detail on what that might look like. I've compiled a list of builds I plan to release in sequence for Absolution and I would like to see some feedback on it, any aspect of it. Here's the outline, the numbers next to the builds are fractions of the total number of routes/weeks present in the full game:

1. Final demo update (0$) 6/36: just an update to the current demo that would include bug fixes, implementing changes requested by a lot of players like adjusting the job interview, certain quality of life improvements like looking back at the interface and mechanics, and possibly a graphical overhaul with new sprites for the patients, but we’ll see about that. 

2. Partial release A (5$) 10/36: released as a separate itch.io project on a page intended for the final game, this would be the first paid version of the game available and the following releases would be free updates, despite the price rising slightly with each update released up to the full game’s price. This would contain week 2 for the routes of Charlie, Tom, Michael and William, along with slightly more social and exploration events than the demo had. 

3. Partial release B (7$) 14/36: a free update to the previous build, this would contain week 3 for the patient routes and once again more social and exploration events. 

4. Partial release C (10$) 18/36: this update would contain week 4 for the patient routes along with main story social events and no new exploration events. 

5. Partial release D (12$) 22/36: this update would contain week 5 for the patient routes, many new main story events common for most routes, the start of ending branching and the final social and exploration events. 

6. Partial release E (15$) 26/36: this update would contain week 6 for the patient routes, the epilogues for those routes and the achievement/ending checklist system. 

7. Full game release (20$) 36/36: this update, which would probably need more time than the previous ones, would contain the whole game - all six routes over six weeks, with all endings and achievements becoming unlockable.

When will these be released? I'm not sure yet, but I would like to release builds A-E with around a month of break between each of them. I think I might look at starting in January, but it might not be the best idea? We'll see. Either way, these are the seven signs of Absolution that you can expect to see and be notified of. And as all seven trumpets go "toot toot", the game will be complete.
